Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

A new energy efficient medical building across from the Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center. The building isn't the prettiest, but I do like the design. The really exciting thing is that it has an automated parking garage - the first one on the west coast. I'm curious to see how that works...

_04/28/12_ Packing Up
This morning my wife and I headed over to Pasadena for the occasional Doo Dah Parade, which is awesome. It's known as the anti-Rose Parade, and it's full of colorful characters. I'm sure many of them were drunk.
I took photos at the parade, but just snapshots, nothing artistic. Later, I went to the beach and walked about 2 miles in the sand, which was quite a workout. Towards the beginning I took this photo of three people that were just packing up from an afternoon at the beach. In the center, you can see a parasailer.
I like how the woman on the right seems to be standing on a ball of light. It's lens flare, of course, which is pretty much unavoidable if you point your lens straight at the sun.

__02/29/12__ Here's to Four Years
I did it! I took and posted a photo every day from 2/29/08 through today. Phase I of the One/Day Project is complete.
I conceived of this photo a few weeks ago and was lucky that the predicted rain for today didn't pan out. My tradition has been to get a photo at the beach for my last shot of that year. I wanted to get a little more creative this year, and I thought this would be a fitting concept. I chose this shot over the others because of the colors and the super-glassy look of the wet sand.
Take a look at the photo setup for it - Photo Setup - 2/29/12

So, will I keep going? Yes, yes I will. I have no reason not to continue, and it's quite enjoyable.

Oh, and feel free to buy some prints, like me on Facebook, and follow me on Twitter :)

[last year] sorry, there was no 2/29 last year...
__01/16/12__ Sunset 4 U
Tonight's sunset was pretty cool, as there was a green flash. I knew I had seen it, but it was further confirmed by a lady next to me that started yelling "I saw it! I saw it!"

[last year] ah, a year without those stupid glass blocks...

I grabbed this shot on my way out of work. It looks like a crazy telepathic connection with another dimension. Or something?
This page might be static for a few days - I'm heading off to North Carolina tomorrow morning for a wedding! I'll probably wait until I return to upload my daily photos.
