Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

A sign on a building. It's new, because I looked at it on Google street view and the sign wasn't there, but the tile was. I searched to see if I could figure out what 'MA' means, but I didn't find anything. I also don't particularly care, it was just a cool sign.
Did you know - MA spelled backwards is AM? Cause it is!

2013-04-20 Covel Stairs
Covel Commons is a big conference spot at UCLA, up where the dorms are. We were there earlier in the day and I took this photo of the winding central staircase. Did some extra stylizing in Lightroom.

__01/28/13__ Spherical Distortion
Thanks for all the comments on my previous few photos. I really like the ultra-wide angle lens, and I had fun getting those shots. Let's hope other people like them too - I uploaded most of them to istockphoto.
Today's photo isn't quite as impressive. A true desperation shot, I grabbed a bowl-like flower vase and turned it upside down in front of our backsplash in the kitchen. I used my iPhone and the Average Camera Pro app, which takes multiple photos in a row and averages them together to get a single low-noise image.
It's a pretty awesome tool, although still a hack. The ability to do purposeful long exposures is by far the biggest thing I want on my phone. I'd gladly get rid of my Canon S95 if my phone could do that.

__01/12/13__ Table & Tile
A photo of interesting shadows and patterns near The Counter where I pigged out after eating rather healthy all week.

_07/16/12_ Blue Entry
It looks like an entry to the building, but you can't actually go in here. It's kind of strange.

_06/06/12_ Three Seats
These desks caught my eye as a cool subject with the afternoon light coming through the curtain. I'm pretty sure everything in this photo is original to the building, which opened in the mid-60s. Although I like the photo at a glance, I'm a little frustrated with myself that it's not perfectly centered - all of the straight lines are just a little bit off.

[last year] no more legos...
Anachronism
That STAIRS sign really adds to the feel of the room, no?
_04/13/12_ Wet Tile
Thanks for the well wishes, I am still recovering, but certainly doing better than the past few days. I took a short walk in the late afternoon and grabbed this photo. It rained like crazy today, and fortunately I was inside for most of it. There was actual thunder! Very rare for Los Angeles.
Want to see a really amazing shot from the storm? Check this out.

_03/27/12_ Infinipee
This is a photo of repeating elements, it just happens to be in a bathroom.
Have you ever seen one laid out like this? It's kind of extreme. If this were a movie, someone would get murdered in here, I'm pretty sure. I love the lone child-height urinal, randomly in the middle.
