Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

This was a wedding gift from my friend from Tucson. This side features a horned toad and the other side is a prickly pear. It's really cool, very Desert Southwest, and I've wanted to use it as a photo of the day for a long time, but wasn't sure how to light it. I had an idea for a lighting setup today - here it is. It's certainly not perfect, but I think it's pretty good for a glossy subject and a single flash.
Speaking of flashes and lighting setups, I"m super-excited to be attending the Flash Bus Tour with Joe McNally and David Hobby (aka Strobist). My only concern is I will suddenly find myself needing to purchase a lot of equipment I don't have money for... Anyone else going from LA?

Another photo of the red-spotted toad, with two of my fingers to show scale.
Red spotted toad in Tucson, AZ. He was very patient with me and didn't mind the camera being inches from his face. A similar photo from the side is in the one/day gallery.

Happy Easter! Toad! I was out on my parents porch in Tucson, AZ and this Red Spotted Toad (Bufo punctatus) came hopping along. I was able to get as close to it as my lens could focus, which was a couple inches away. This photo is not cropped or edited in any way.
