Welcome to the One/Day Project
Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.
Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

I had jury duty today and was excused in the afternoon (yay). I took my bike so I could ride home, and I'm happy I did - it was a beautiful day and I got to ride along the beach for much of the ride.
At one point, there were four lifeguard towers all next to each other for whatever reason. They struck me as a group of friends watching the sunset.

![_09/28/12_ Top of Los Angeles
This photo was taken from the 72nd floor of the US Bank building in downtown Los Angeles, were me and thousands of other stair climbers gathered after making it all the way to the top - 75 stories, 1005 feet, and 1679 steps above the city below. It's the tallest building west of the MIssissippi and I feel very accomplished to get to the top!
The event is a fundraiser for the YMCA - www.ymcastairclimb.org - and my team from work raised over $1k for them, so that's cool.
I'm very happy that I kept a good pace and don't feel particularly worn out, and in general it wasn't as difficult as I had feared. I was a tiny bit disappointed that we weren't allowed on the helipad like the alien-loving hippies in Independence Day that get blown up, but I'll survive. Overall I had a great time and am excited to do it again next year.

I started taking a Lynda.com course over the weekend - Foundations of Photography: Composition, taught by the outstanding Ben Long. My plan is to watch no more than one chapter per day, and actually go out and do the exercise he lays out at the end of each lesson. Today I did just that, although this photo does not reflect the exercise we were supposed to do.
But that's OK, because I'm not here to prove to you that I did the exercise. I'm here to share my favorite photo of the day, and it's this one.

Today I attended a great conference at LMU - Loyola Marymount University. It's a beautiful campus with a great view. It would have been even better when the nearby area was still wetlands instead of giant apartment buildings. What can I say, Los Angeles sure hates its wetlands.
