Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

I went minimalist today. The parking lot near our house got paved and painted this morning, and it was all taped off for it to dry. I knew that as soon as cars started driving on it, it would never have the dramatic, unspoiled black and white contrast, so I took a photo. Not exactly glamorous, but interesting. To me, anyways.

I caught this beautiful light on the clouds as my wife and I left a movie* in Santa Monica. This really cool triangle-shaped building is at the corner of 2nd and Arizona and provides the office-dwellers inside some spectacular ocean views, I'm sure. The building hasn't been a daily photo before, but I have a shot of it posted from last years' Scott Kelby photo walk that I participated in. I don't think I'll participate this year, because all of the walks near me are already filled up.

*Cowboys and Aliens. Pretty fun, kinda stupid - as expected :)

This morning I attended a software demo on the 33rd floor of this building in downtown LA. I got there early, so I walked around and took some photos with my phone. Conditions were great with the partly cloudy skies, but the iPhone definitely had some trouble with the repeating patterns of the windows - it's pretty grainy if you look at it full size.
I chose to make it a B&W since the most interesting things are the shapes, not the colors.

Triangle Sculpture
Abbott Drive, Omaha
Just South of the airport is this amazingly cool sculpture. I have no idea what is it or who built it... or why it's there. There's a pull off from the road that circles the sculpture, but otherwise it's just empty land. Some birds live in it...

Update: Thanks Jared! It's called New Front Door and was created in 1986 by Rod Kagan. More info here: www.publicartomaha.org/art/info/86/New%20Front%20Door

Today we left Orange City and drove back to Omaha, stopping at this awesome sculpture on the side of Abbott Drive, just South of the airport. I did some searching online, but I could not find out what the piece is called or who the sculptor is. It's pretty amazing though - all metal and about 30 or 40 feet high, it seems to reach for the sky in an organized chaos sort of way.
Other adventures included lunch (dinner?) at the Crescent Moon Ale House, driving through a very nice Omaha neighborhood, and having our Denver connection delayed 2.5 hours. Exhaustion aside, we're happy to be back. We had fun, though - it was neat to see family and learn some history. More Orange City pics coming soon.

[last year] I even creep myself out...
