Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

2013-06-13 Palm Trunk
It's the trunk of a palm tree, with a bit of colorization. I didn't add artificial color, I just adjusted what was already there. Which I suppose makes it artificial. But whatever, I like it.

2013-03-16 Fence & Tree
I love this orange-barked tree, but I don't know what it is. There are some neighborhoods where this tree lines the streets, and it looks really cool.
This one had a fence built around it, which is interesting. I should have gotten lower to have the fence slats be more parallel in the image, but oh well.

2013-03-13 Heavy Fog
This morning was one of those ultra-thick fog days, which we don't get too often. This view is looking down my street; you could only see about half a block.
Thanks for all the comments on yesterday's photo - I had fun making it and I'm glad y'all like it.

In other news, I am now enrolled in Photojojo University! In a couple weeks I'll be starting Phoneography 101 with Professor Pancake. For reals. Want to join me? Just go to the Photojojo Store and buy the class - it's only $5, so why not?

A tree framed by some interesting reflections on a somewhat curved and very shiny building. There's a Radio Shack across the street, can you spot it?

_03/16/12_ Ficus & Ivy
Here's the only shot I took today, except a shot of my delicious dinner to share on Facebook - people LOVE seeing what other people are eating. Don't you? Of course you do.
This tree is just outside my work, and it looked especially neat after a little bit of rain. If I had more lighting equipment, I'd consider doing a series on ficus roots in LA. There are so many neat ones to choose from. This shot is straight out of camera, which I don't normally do, but the iPhone did a fantastic job with the exposure.

In order to test out my new bike rack and bag, I went on a ride carrying my biggest lens. I definitely noticed the added pounds, but I think it will be good for commuting. I took a few photos, but nothing too exciting - this is looking up at a palm tree zoomed in all the way.

My computer is fixed! Very quick turnaround from the Apple store. I was able to do a complete and flawless restore from my Time Machine backup.
This evening, I went for a walk around the neighborhood to search for a daily photo and found this. The plain wall, vertical reeds, grass and gray gradient tree struck me as a neat composition. Coincidentally, it was right across the street from Frank Gehry's house. Really.
