Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

Desperation shot of the Apple TV remote, which I used a lot today while home sick.

A composite image created in my new favorite app - Average Camera Pro. It's fun to play with because you can get some interesting effects. This image was created from 32 shots of our TV, while the phone was mirroring to it and I was moving the phone back and forth.
Make sense? Too bad.

But hey, happy February! The end of this month will mark my 5th year of the One/Day Project. Plans for Year 6? Here's a clue: FF. That can stand for a lot of things, but what might it mean in photography terms?

Ah, the good old days. When remote controls had metal grills and only three buttons. I think my favorite part is how the on/off button doubles as the volume.
I took 25 photos before I decided I liked the lighting enough. The biggest difference came when I wiped off the remote with my shirt - it was pretty dusty. Note to self: clean photo subjects before photographing them. I think that applies equally to both inanimate and human subjects.

I didn't do much with photography today, but I watched Harry Potter and the Something Something movie on TV with my legs stretched out. Here's a lovely photo of that.
This is the part of the movie where Harry and Hermoine (?) go back in time to save things, like the flying horse-bird creature, and Syrius (?) Black. I'm not really a Harry Potter fan, so I really don't know any of these details. Sorry :)

NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Championship game (Kansas v Memphis), super close-up on a CRT television. A few downsides to this concept - 1) half of my photos were dark or mismatched because of the slow screen refresh rate relative to the camera's shutter speed 2) the camera's metering only worked correctly about half the time and 3) the complexity of the image causes absolutely enormous .jpeg files.
