Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

_09/03/12_ Beachgoers
I went for a weird perspective in this shot. I took it from up on top of the bluffs in Santa Monica, and framed it so that only a small strip of the beach was in view. I didn't realize how well the pavement on the bluffs would blend in with the sand.

_07/06/11_ Construction Scene
Another iPhone desperation shot today. This scene caught my eye a few days ago, but we kept driving. We were in the area again today and I needed a photo, so we stopped. It's not super-exciting, but I think the umbrella's kind of funny.
I've had a sore throat all day, so I blame my lack of creativity on that.

_05/06/11_ Colorful Pier
Tonight I went to the pier to take some photos - a lot of low-res JPEGs to be exact. I was experimenting with time lapse stuff, inspired by this video, although I've seen plenty of other inspiring time lapse stuff, too. Unfortunately I've also seen a lot of utter crap, so I started reading up on how to do it properly.
For tonight, I just used my Gorillapod and and rubber band-type-thing to manually hold down the shutter button on my S95. Want to see the results? OK. Click here.

__02/05/10__ Umbrella
Today's photo is an umbrella in the shower. It rained today, so I thought it was fitting.
Today was my last day in the office for a while - I'm going to San Francisco for MacWorld all next week! I'll take photos, of course, but I'll be at the convention center all day, likely venturing out in the evenings. I'm considering only taking my 50mm f/1.4 lens and leaving everything else behind. Otherwise I'll take only my 18-200mm, but if most of my shots are at night the f/3.5-5.6 won't do me any favors. Thoughts?

_06/12/09_ Umbrellas and Chairs
Yep, another chairs photo. It's graduation time at UCLA, and this is actually the same location that I shot last year on 6/13 (court of sciences). Looks like the chairs are the same, but they've changed the umbrellas.
I'm happy with the way this turned out - I cranked the blacks slider to get rid of the distractions behind the umbrellas, and I really like the patterns. This was taken with an SD400.
