Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

After 3.5 years of wearing them, I finally took a daily photo of our wedding rings. Unless you count the photo I took the day after our wedding... but that doesn't count.
Mine is the one in focus, my wife's is the one with a ruby. Both of them have the etched mountain range, which resembles actual peaks around Tucson. I believe this one is Thimble Peak, near Sabino Canyon.
With this photo posted, I thee go to bed.

[last year] love this one - it's real, very little processing...
Wedding Flutes
Aww, matching champagne glasses for the bride and groom.

I went to high school and college with the well-dressed person on the left. He just got married to the well-dressed person on the right.
The wedding was in Las Vegas and it was a lot of fun. My wife and I had a great time catching up with friends. For this shot, I set my S95 to Tv and set the shutter speed to 1/6s to capture the ambient lighting, and used the flash to freeze subjects. After the flash went off, I rotated the camera to get the full effect. Fittingly, this shot turned out the best out of all of them!

More Las Vegas photos!

[last year] and now for something completely different...
2011-02-23 Aztec Wedding Vase SETUP
The main thing about this setup is of course the bright white surface directly above the subject. The table worked well as a way to suspend the foam board, but it was kind of a bummer to sit on the hard floor and try to get the right angle. The foam flag blocked any direct light from the flash from illuminating the curtains, so they easily went to black in the photo. I had to paint over parts of the black cloth to get it black in the final shot. The white index card added some much-needed fill light on the left side of the vase.

This was a wedding gift from my friend from Tucson. This side features a horned toad and the other side is a prickly pear. It's really cool, very Desert Southwest, and I've wanted to use it as a photo of the day for a long time, but wasn't sure how to light it. I had an idea for a lighting setup today - here it is. It's certainly not perfect, but I think it's pretty good for a glossy subject and a single flash.
Speaking of flashes and lighting setups, I"m super-excited to be attending the Flash Bus Tour with Joe McNally and David Hobby (aka Strobist). My only concern is I will suddenly find myself needing to purchase a lot of equipment I don't have money for... Anyone else going from LA?

Maine Trip iPhone Daily
Wedding Day! This was the reason for the trip. The wedding and ceremony were in beautiful York. The bride is REALLY into soccer, which explains this shot. Tomorrow we fly back to the West coast.
Congrats Taylor and Connelly!

Daisy
As I was not the wedding photographer, I didn't take a whole lot of photos of the wedding. This one turned out nicely - we all had these daisies tucked into our napkins at the reception.

Part 2 of 2
Major life event happened yesterday ;)
This is the view from our hotel room at La Paloma in Tucson. No honeymoon right now, just a few days at a nice resort. Hopefully we'll be traveling overseas for a 1 year anniversary trip.
