Welcome to the One/Day Project

Here you will find hundreds of photos that I've taken every day since 2/29/2008. I reached my initial goal of making it to leap day 2012 (after 1462 photos), but I'm still going - the new goal is to make it to Monday, 2/29/2016.

Every photo in these galleries is a unique creation from that day. My intent is to create art, and I've taken great care to create most of these photographs. In addition to not uploading simple snapshots, I try incredibly hard not to repeat myself.

Please enjoy, and feel free to comment. Like the shot? Give it a thumbs up. Really like it? Buy a print or digital download.

Thanks for looking!

It's a wine glass, but instead of wine, it's filled with fun bubbles!
I was walking around my kitchen trying to figure out what kind of desperation shot to take when I saw there were still bubbles in the sink from doing dishes. I wanted to get a cooler effect, like having some of the bubbles dripping down the sides, but I ran out of time and energy. Another time...

Tonight required wine, and this was the glass I drank it from. There's always a miniscule amount at the bottom that never makes it into your mouth. I feel like there should be a word for that.
For the shot, I set my compact on the rim with the lens pointing inside, the moved them around together to get the motion.

__02/29/12__ Here's to Four Years
I did it! I took and posted a photo every day from 2/29/08 through today. Phase I of the One/Day Project is complete.
I conceived of this photo a few weeks ago and was lucky that the predicted rain for today didn't pan out. My tradition has been to get a photo at the beach for my last shot of that year. I wanted to get a little more creative this year, and I thought this would be a fitting concept. I chose this shot over the others because of the colors and the super-glassy look of the wet sand.
Take a look at the photo setup for it - Photo Setup - 2/29/12

So, will I keep going? Yes, yes I will. I have no reason not to continue, and it's quite enjoyable.

[last year] sorry, there was no 2/29 last year...
__01/13/12__ Hollow-Eyed Wood Crescent
I feel this piece has a very animal-like quality to it. It's cool. My parents got it for me on a recent trip to Thailand. I like it.
Do you know what it is? Feel free to guess. I'll tell you if you're right.

_06/17/11_ White Wine Sangria
It's been a strange week. Despite working all five days on campus, I never set foot in my own office. Today ended with a massive 5-person retirement party with live music and champagne.
It was definitely a night for food and drinks, so we headed down to a neat new restaurant/bar where I got this drink to start. It was tasty and I took a photo.
If you want more photos to look at, please check out my Los Angeles Zoo photos from last weekend!

Softbox on camera right, white background, macro lens. That's pretty much all there was to it.

_04/25/11_ Black & Wine
This is a carrot, an edible root that is typically bright orange in color. Wait no, that can't be right...
Hold on...
OK, it turns out this is a wine glass. Sorry about that. I don't know what I was thinking.
