AotP Photographer's Night 2012
For the third time, I participated in the Aquarium of the Pacific's Photographers Night, where the Aquarium closes early so photographers can have the run of the place. Tripods and flashes are allowed (except for a few animals). This year, I rented at 105mm macro lens, although I got a lot of shots with my 60mm macro as well.
The big epiphany from this visit? How awesome jellies are with off-camera flash.

West Coast Sea Nettle (Chrysaora fuscescens) I love how the background is illuminated in this shot - at first I just thought it was a neat texture and didn't realize it was all tentacles.
