AotP Photographer's Night 2012
For the third time, I participated in the Aquarium of the Pacific's Photographers Night, where the Aquarium closes early so photographers can have the run of the place. Tripods and flashes are allowed (except for a few animals). This year, I rented at 105mm macro lens, although I got a lot of shots with my 60mm macro as well.
The big epiphany from this visit? How awesome jellies are with off-camera flash.

Giant Spider Crab (Macrocheira kaempferi) I highly recommend making several passes of your favorite exhibits. The first time I went by the spider crabs, they were all in the back, but when I came back an hour or two later, this guy was right up against the glass. Off-camera flash provided the illumination.
