Fallen Blossom
10/3/08 The death of color. This is a floss silk tree blossom (Ceiba speciosa, native to Brazil and Argentina) in a pile of boring decaying leaves from other plants in the UCLA botanical gardens. The ground under this tree is covered in these pink petals, which is kind of surreal. I also took a macro shot of another fallen blossom.

on October 4, 2008Thanks! I'll try and get a shot of the pink ground later when there's even more of these petals. I also have to wait until it's not so muddy and I can kneel down!
