Orb Weaver

An orb weaver spider wrapping up a bug for a later meal. I've noticed these spiders being skittish in the past, so I used my 18-200mm lens at 200mm instead of my close up lens (60mm f/2.8). I still got pretty close to the guy, but he didn't seem to mind. I cropped the resulting photo and increased the contrast with levels and curves. It's interesting how the web is barely noticeable in the photo - I thought the use of the flash might light it up. Special thanks to Ann who held my 2nd flash unit while I took the shot!
