Sunset
2009-12-13 This, my friends, is a sunset. They are often seen when the daily rotation of the Earth takes the sun out of our view and it begins to get dark, since it is the sun that provides us light. I imagine most of you are familiar with this phenomenon. This shot was taken from Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area in LA. My intention was a downtown LA photo with snow-covered mountains, but it was very cloudy - it's not the first time that's happen to me. Instead I turned toward the ocean and setting sun, having to climb a pile of mulch to shoot over a fence. The spots in the foreground are just puddles. I corrected the distortion from shooting wide at 18mm in Photoshop and did a little contrast adjustment back in Lightroom. Hope you have a great week! [last year]

on December 14, 2009Very pretty sky. The clouds almost seem to be reaching toward the viewer just as the rays are.
