I lacked interesting subjects during the day, so here's what I came up with to honor today's date. The number comes from a metal ruler, one meter long. The background gradient was created in Photoshop and is displayed in full screen mode on my 24" monitor.
The depth of field is very shallow in order to isolate the number, although I think I'd go with a smaller aperture if I were to do it again. I'd also make the background gradient more interesting. The dynamic range was pretty limited as shot, so I added quite a bit of contrast in Lightroom.
