Cow Horn Glowing
2009-04-08
It's a real cow horn, purchased at the AZ Renaissance Festival many years ago. I'm blowing it like a brass instrument in this photo, but it's coated and has a cork at the narrow end so you can drink out of it, too!
To get the shot, I put my D80 on a tripod and figured out where the focus was so I knew where to stand (this changed as I took shots). I set the camera to flash commander mode and used the ML-L3 remote trigger. For the lighting, I simply stuck my SB-800 in the wide end of the horn and secured it with some string. I did minor tweaking in Lightroom - the main thing was raising using the Blacks slider to take out what was left of the background.
