Coulter Bush
2011-06-02 This is what I like to call a premeditated desperation shot - I didn't think I'd be taking many photos today, so I made sure I got something while I was thinking about it. I took this shot of some cool-looking flowers on my way into work. I like the way they grow in distinct bunches. The coulter bush (Hymenolepis parviflora) is native to South Africa. Since I'm going there in a few months, I'm much more attuned to the plants that are from that area. Southern California is full of them - in fact almost any cool flowering plant or tree you see around here is from there. [last year] dummy...
