Sea Glass
2013-01-29
I collected this sea glass with my mom and mom-in-law back when my wife was in the hospital. We had gone out to breakfast near the beach (to a favorite place of my wife, where we went when she got out) and for whatever reason, there was tons of sea glass. I collected a handful, but I haven't seen any since then.
The pieces were arranged by yours truly, after dumping them on this black foam board. I wasn't really going for a particular shape, but I think it looks like an anatomical heart.
[last year] this plant almost died, but we brought it back...

on January 31, 2013Probably it's a subliminal thing, connecting the green colors and the shapes of some of the individual pieces, but I see a leaf. Your shot got me to thinking about the fact that tumbling in the surf polishes a dull rock into something shiny, but turns a shiny piece of glass into something frosted and only semi-translucent. This is a nice memento of the experience of finding it on the beach.

on January 31, 2013What a stroke of luck to find all this sea glass, I look for sea glass all the time but rarely find any and none as pretty as this. Love the shot. It looks great on the black background and the arrangement is interesting... nicely done!
