Invincible
2013-05-07 Invincible This was supposed to be a tribute photo, a memorial to a fallen appliance. An appliance that, in all it's orange splendor, warmed and cooked my food for well over a decade. An appliance that blatantly stole it's bright color plastic styling from the very first iMac. An appliance that has kept working strong far longer than any other electronics I've owned, despite costing less than $100. An appliance that lived in a dorm room, followed by 6 other residences in 2 states. An appliance that predates my relationship with my wife. An appliance that has carried on and on as we've replaced nearly every college-era thing we own with an 'adult' version of it. This is our microwave, and tonight it almost died when this spring came loose inside the case. Almost, because with a handful of tools and a stroke of luck, I was able to retrieve the spring and repair it. Surely one day it will fail completely, my friends. But today is not that day. [last year]
