2012-05-22 Much like Friday's photo, this was taken on my way to get takeout for dinner. It wasn't particularly amazing, but the light on the glass looked neat, and I don't believe I've done a photo like this before. It's quite over-processed, mostly by cranking the clarity slider in LR. The square crop was an obvious choice, but it bugs me because I didn't perfectly center the camera, so the lines are skewed just a little. I could fix it in Photoshop, but I'm tired. 2012-01-11 What a good day! I accomplished things at work, our replacement window got completely installed, and we got to pick up my parents from the airport after their 2 week trip in SE Asia. Exciting times. This photo, on the other hands, is not very exciting, although I hope you find it visually interesting. I walked around a bit this afternoon with contest DSS #94 on my mind - Angles and Shapes. Not sure I'll submit this one as my entry, but it's something. [last year]
2011-11-29 Today I traveled to San Francisco for a conference for the rest of the week. I had a few hours to see some sights, so I decided to cross the Cable Car Museum off my list. It was awesome! So basically there are four cable car lines, and each one has it's own cable that runs underneath the street. The cables run constantly, and the cars just grab onto them when they need to move. The building where the museum is houses the giant motors that keep the cables running. It's pretty incredible to see and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting, especially if you're going to ride the cable cars. This is the best photo I got from the museum - a closeup of a giant coil of cable. I had no idea, but apparently the cables wear out very quickly and have to be replaced multiple times a year.
