2011-07-28 This afternoon I had the opportunity to photograph a collection of glass eyes from Germany that date back to the 1860s. Considering that these were completely handmade, the detail is astounding. The box contained 50 different glass eyes, but I was immediately drawn towards these hazel colored ones, perhaps because I have hazel eyes myself. I was surprised to discover that they're not symmetrical. I touched up the background in Lightroom to get rid of dust and lint, and I blackened the pupils a bit. I did not do any white balance adjustments - the subtle green tint was part of the glass. While I have your attention, go check out my blog post about iPhone panorama photography. I plan on using the apps I talk about on my upcoming Africa trip for the One/Day Project. [last year]
