2nd anniversary trip to the islands of Oahu and Hawaii. 8 days of tropical sightseeing in late November. We visited Oahu for 3 nights, the Big Island for 4. Read my blog post entitled 8 Crazy Days in Hawaii for more!

Here's the lanai (is it just the Hawaiian word for porch?) at the rental house we stayed at. I'd highly recommend it - <a href="http://www.vrbo.com/79299">VRBO #79299</a>
It's within walking distance to the Wai' Opae tide pools, and you can hear the ocean. The only downside is the farther distance to other attractions like the National Park.
This is no fault of the house, but I have to add that at night there was an incredible din from the ... crickets?... that live in all the trees. It sounded like there were millions of them! Each one very loud. Crazy.
