Painted Cables
2010-02-10 These are, of course, cables on the Golden Gate bridge, as promised in yesterday's photo. They were in the process of being re-painted, I guess. I got up early, caught a bus, and arrived at the bridge around 7am. The sun made a brief appearance just after sunrise but then hid behind clouds (until I left - then it came out again, blast!). I walked all the way to the Marin side and back in about 1.5 hours, which is a deceptively long 3 mile trek. It was really neat to see the bridge, and the scale of it is hard to comprehend, even when you're standing right under one of the towers. One thing I didn't expect was the noise from traffic - your mind goes numb after a while. I was grateful that it was not windy! on February 12, 2010What a great shot! Creative photo...and there is that unmistakable Golden Gate Orange! Interesting observations about the noise and perspective of the size of the bridge. The DOF is perfect on this shot as well.

on February 11, 2010Really nice composition and color. You successfully broke a rule about only composing odd numbers of focal points as well.
Man, imagine getting the job to strip the old paint. Boggles the mind.
