Grain Storage
2011-04-22 Happy Earth Day! I'm still in Orange City, IA. In case you missed it yesterday, we're here for my grandmother-in-law's 100th birthday! We saw her again this morning and had supper* with her this evening - she didn't miss a beat, despite yesterday's festivities. We spent most of the day touring around Orange City. We saw the family farm that Wilmina grew up on, we visited a coffee shop that used to be a wooden shoe factory, a dutch meat shop, a dutch gift shop... all sorts of things. Around sunset, we drove over to this grain elevator and I took some photos. It's interesting that this area is so open with few buildings, but then you run into these hulking concrete structures. It was pretty fun to take photos of - I'll share more soon. *what I call dinner is what they call lunch... also, soda is pop here. Crazy mid-westerners. [last year]
